America are you listening? These are not the words of a fringe element within a larger, “peaceful” global Islamic community (Arabic: Ummah). These ideas are advanced in an overwhelming majority of the more than 2,000 mosques, Islamic centers, and madrassas across the fruited plain.

At 8:46 a.m. on September 11, 2001, nineteen practicing Muslims hijacked four passenger jetliners, flew one each into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center (WTC), a third into the West side of the Pentagon, and to the credit of passengers on UAL Flight 93, plunged the fourth aircraft into the ground in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. By the time the dust settled on rescue and recovery efforts, the lives of all 227 “infidels” on board the four aircraft, and hundreds inside the WTC and Pentagon had been extinguished, leaving grieving family members and friends to sort through the madness and carnage.

Unfortunately, no gentler Divine chastisement than 9/11 would have sufficed to awaken America to her fatal moral condition, and the severity of her imminent departure to the ash heap of history. September 11, 2001 was intended to teach America hard lessons of history that she seems bound and determined to repeat.

Thursday, September 11, 2014 marked the thirteenth anniversary of the second date that should live in infamy in American consciousness, when nineteen men who firmly believed they were faithfully executing the will of Allah as revealed in Islam’s sacred texts. Like all good Muslims, the terrorists believed the Qur’an to be the final revelation of God’s word to man, and a completion and confirmation of “previous verses” like those found in the Torah, Psalms, and the Gospels.

Less than twelve hours after “the pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge structures collapsing” had filled the American people “with disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding anger,” America’s 43rd President took to the airwaves to reassure the American people and assert U.S. resolve against “a fringe form of Islamic extremism that has been rejected by Muslim scholars and the vast majority of Muslim clerics; a fringe movement that perverts the peaceful teachings of Islam.” “We will make no distinction,” said he, “between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them.” Had he possessed a solid grasp of the ideology that furnished motives for the 9/11 terrorists’ actions, or been aware that his own and the previous administration harbored Muslims whose ideology was identical to that of the hijackers, the Commander in Chief might have chosen different language to assert US resolve.

Fast forward to the thirteenth anniversary of 9/11 when America’s 44th President took to the airwaves to do political damage control, convince the American people that he had not been derelict in his duty as Commander in Chief, and assert US resolve, not against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), but against the “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL),” a more expansive geographic construct than ISIS, encompassing the “apple of God’s eye” (Zechariah 2:8), the pièce de résistance in the Islamic State’s rapacious blitzkrieg across the Middle East. Employing duality of speech that would have made Muhammad proud and make the Islamic State’s vision of “the flag of Islam flying over the White House” seem within reach, the President executed the Quranic concept of permissible lying (Arabic: taqiyya) flawlessly: “Now let's make two things clear: ISIL is not ‘Islamic.’ No religion condones the killing of innocents.”

When President Bush gave voice to the “religion of peace” narrative on 9/11, he was repeating a lie that had been fed to him by jihadis in his administration like “goodwill ambassador to the Muslim world,” Abdurahman Alamoudi, who two years after Bush’s 9/11 address, was indicted by a federal grand jury for providing material support foreign terrorist organizations (FTO) like Hamas and al-Qaeda, and his role in a Libyan conspiracy to assassinate Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah. In addition to his role as Islamic Affairs Advisor for the Clinton Administration, Alamoudi is a founding trustee of the Fiqh Council of North America, and has held prominent leadership positions in several North American Muslim Brotherhood organizations that include CAIR, ISNA, the American Muslim Council, and the Muslim Students Association (MSA), and is a supporter of Hamas and Hezbollah. He is currently serving out the remainder of a 17-year term in federal prison.

Unlike his successor, Bush lacked the knowledge of Islam that accrues to several years of education in a madrassa. Barak Hussein Obama, on the other hand, is not deluded by the “religion of peace” narrative so deftly practiced by the US Muslim Brotherhood leaders he welcomes into the White House. When he alleges that the most brutal incarnation of Islam since 9/11 “is not Islamic,” he is practicing the art of permissible lying (Arabic: al Taqiyya) that leaders in the US Muslim Community used to great effect after 9/11 to distance themselves from the attacks and maintain cover for their seditious enterprise. He knows that he is dissembling when he asserts that “No religion condones the killing of innocents.” Muslims educated in madrassas know these things. Non-Muslims are infidels, and infidels’ necks are fair game for practicing Muslims like those in ISIL.

When Muslims practice al Taqiyya against non-Muslims, they are emulating “the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of Allah." (Quran al-Ahzab 33:21). Beginning with Muhammad, and for centuries since, the Muslim armies would enter peace treaties with militarily superior peoples while they surreptitiously accumulated the political and military strength needed to crush them. Simply stated, Barack Obama lied, and knew he was lying, as did every member of ISIS and the US Muslim Brotherhood who heard his speech.

Imagine President Franklin D. Roosevelt taking to the airwaves the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor and telling the American people, “The Japanese pilots who bombed Pearl Harbor yesterday practice a fringe form of emperor worship that perverts the peaceful teachings of Shintoism and has been rejected by Shinto scholars and the vast majority of Shinto priests? We respect your faith; it is practiced freely by many millions of Japanese Shintoists and by millions more in countries that America counts as friends. The teachings of Shintoism are good and peaceful, and those who commit evil in the name of the Japanese emperor blaspheme the name Hirohito?” Roosevelt’s political career would have been over and Congress would have initiated impeachment proceedings immediately after declaring war on the Empire of Japan.

Last week I took part in a one day conference attended by roughly 300 clergy on the anniversary of 9/11. Heavy traffic delayed my arrival at the event until about an hour after it began. Unless something was said before I arrived, there was no mention of 9/11 or the lives that had perished that day. This troubles me greatly, for if “those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it,” what will become of a nation that forgets its history altogether?

Thirteen years have elapsed since the events of September 11, 2001 galvanized US resolve against Islamic terror. It is inconceivable that leaders charged with our nation’s security still do not possess a clear understanding of the ideology that brought us 9/11, or a cohesive strategy for defeating it.

The armies of ISIL have grown to the tens of thousands in Iraq and Syria, and they’ve threatened to “see us in New York.” US mosques are becoming recruitment centers for Mujahideen to fight for the Islamic State. ISIL is recruiting members within and beyond our Northern and Southern Borders in Central and South America and Canada. Hamas, Hezbollah, and al-Shabaab are crossing our porous borders and setting up command centers in US mosques. Mosques, which have more than doubled in number since 9/11 to over 2,000 in America today, are caching weapons in preparation for “zero hour,” when Muslim leaders calculate that they have the political and kinetic strength to defeat us.

It is 9/11 2014 and the West is losing the war with the observant Muslim world. Pray for revival. Pray for the Church. Pray for the United States of America.
