TV Trash Sitcom Gets Positive Review from So-called Christian Reviewer by Jeffrey Ludwig, October 11, 2016

modern-family-TV-series.pngDO YOU REALIZE WHAT INCREDIBLE TRASH IS ON TV, AND IT IS BEING JUSTIFIED BY SUPPOSEDLY CHRISTIAN REVIEWERS?!!!

Joel A. Moroney,  Review of “Modern Family” TV Series,   [Please keep in mind that Mr.Moroney’s review is for “Christian teens.” Yes, you actually read these words: “Christian teens.”]

JM: “I’ve heard concern over the inclusion of a homosexual [married]couple [with an adopted daughter]. That this is an example of the media ‘normalizing’ homosexuality. That children and young people may be exposed to a lifestyle that Christians believe is anything but normal. There is some merit to this.”

JL:  He says there is “some merit” in the concern of Christian parents about exposing their children to the homosexual lifestyle.  But he does not say this concern is valid.  He does not say that the arsenal of perversion is being projected onto the youth of America.

JM:  “On the other hand, I think it’s a bit late to be trying to fight this.”

JL: Despite nine plagues, the Hebrews were rebuffed by Pharaoh. It seemed that they would be slaves in Egypt forever. Pharaoh’s will would not be broken. But was it “too late?” Emphatically no. It is never too late to fight sin.

JM: “There are prominent homosexual characters in many TV shows. Should we not watch Modern Family for that reason? Well, you have to make your own mind up.”

JL: How big of Mr. Moroney to allow us the right to choose. However, his magnanimity [sic] should remind us that there are totalitarian types who will make watching this show a requirement in a class in jr.high or high school. It is in the sin nature to persuade or compel others to enjoy sin.

JM: “My point of view? I go to college in Newtown, one of the gayest suburbs in one of the gayest cities in the world. For me, homosexual couples are not an abstract concept but a reality for the people I interact with each week. Shows like Modern Family give an insight.”

JL: He looks to the TV show for ‘insight,’ not to his Holy Bible, not to his church, not to Almighty God through His Son, not through prayer and meditation on the Word….

JM: “I know what it’s like to live in a family with mum, dad and kids. But I don’t know what it’s like to live in a family where mum and dad have remarried. Or where there’s two dads.”

JL: Poor Mr. Moroney feels he is limited because he does not know what it’s like to be raised by two dads. He is forlorn. He has a gap in his knowledge!!

JM: “Or what it’s like to be adopted. Shows like Modern Family can help me understand what it’s like for them.”

JL: He is watching this simple-minded, shallow, insipid, humorless, and sinful TV show to “grow in understanding” – how mature, how wise!!

JM: “In 1 Corinthians 9:22, Paul says ‘I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.’  Paul goes out of his way to reach people with the gospel. Now I’m not going to find myself a gay man to be my partner so I can reach the gay community.  But watching Modern Family may be a good way to get better insight and help me evangelize.”

JL: Can you believe it? To help him evangelize…. Watching this puerile, immoral, anti-family, anti-Christian show will help him evangelize!  I must herewith note that Moroney’s name with the “ey” deleted is interesting in its simplicity.

I would offer alternative verses from the Holy Bible: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2) “ For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.”(Romans 8:29)   “And you will know that I am the Lord, for you have not followed my decrees or kept my laws but have conformed to the standards of the nations around you.”  (Ezekiel 11:12)

It's my view that Christians should not be watching this show, should not be looking for something to enjoy or approve of in the show. It is tainted by an outrageous anti-family messaging.  It is anti-Christian, anti-family, and anti-love, trying to portray itself as the very essence of "normalcy."

The best thing is not to enjoy it, and also not to sit there and be shocked, offended, and disgusted by the interactions. The best thing is to surf away from this stupid and egregiously immoral pap.
