The Philadelphia Eagles, Fans, Local Law Enforcement and Roger Goodell Should be Ashamed of Themselves by Greg Holt, January 26, 2018
Talk show host Joel Heitkamp attended the championship game with his wife and two other family members. Needless to say, they will never go back. Joel and his family were subjected to abuse in the stadium; yes I said abuse. Full cans of beer were thrown at them, beer bottles were thrown at them, and they were shoved. A drunken Eagles fan shoved Joel and head-butted him. Joel and family were spat on; another fan was beaten in a stadium restroom.
Those whiny Vikings fans and their sour grapes – why, if you can’t take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. I mean really, what do these fans have to complain about? Being pushed and shoved is all in fun right? What’s a beer bottle thrown at your head but good clean fun. And fans being beaten, well they wore the Viking’s jersey, they had it coming right? Oh, and women that were groped, that was just a little innocent horseplay.
The Eagles fans that committed these horrendous acts should be charged with assault. A season ticket holder that did anything like the above should lose their tickets. The police that ignored these behaviors? They should be suspended pending an investigation. No officer of the law should ignore these types of behavior, ever. Any officer that was at that game, or any other game and witnessed violent behavior and shrugged it off as no big deal should be ashamed of the disgrace they bring upon the badge they wear.
What about Roger Goodell? Why does he allow this kind of behavior to occur? This is not new, Philadelphia has been known for this wretched behavior for some time now. Why do the Eagles owners not step in and put a stop to this reprehensible behavior?
This goes way beyond some off-color comments. Apparently in Roger Goodell’s NFL, disrespecting the American flag, fans beating up other fans, acting in a violent manner – it’s all good. and you are caught, you WILL be removed from the stadium, possibly arrested, and if you are a season ticket holder, well kiss your tickets goodbye. ALL stadiums without fail should adhere to the same policy. Violence of any kind should in no way be tolerated.
